FashionGo Photo Studio

  • Intro

The FashionGo Photo Studio was a project that began with a remodel of our office to include a full service photo studio for our vendors. The goal was to create a service that offered high quality images that complied with FashionGo's photo standards and utilized top models and styling. The service required an online booking system which I worked on as the lead UX designer.

  • UX Challenges

One of the first challenges we faced was creating a system that would be able to coordinate model/date availability with the size of vendors' orders. If multiple vendors were going to place an order in one day, we needed to make sure that we would have enough bandwidth to accomodate each order. We also booked different models each day who had different availability. Lastly, we offered three packages (different colors, poses) with various options (4 photo set, 1 photo, movie clip) that all took different amounts of time to produce.

  • Another question we had to ask ourselves was, "how are users going to identify which items correspond with which options?" Users would somehow need to show our operations team which items needed additional photos shot, movie clips recorded, if they wanted a certain pose, etc.

  • Lastly we needed to create a system that would require accountability from each operations team member for each photo shoot. Team members would need to know the status of each photo shoot and who completed which step.

  • UX Solutions

To solve the coordination issue, I created a unit system that would allow for our operations team to input a certain amount of available units for each model. The options that the user selected would be translated into units and the system would display each model and date that would be able to acommodate the size of the order. Because the different order options would take different amounts of time, there was an administrative section where our photo team could adjust the units for each option. This worked because the user was required to choose their package, options, and quantities before selecting a model and date.

  • For the item labeling issue, I created a label sheet that corresponded to the options users selected which they could print out and attach to their items prior to bringing them in.

I created a photo shoot timeline for the photo studio team that would allow for each member to log when they completed their step in the process. Each member was responsible for a different step of the process and this would help in not only keeping them accountable, but also keep them on track to complete each photo shoot on time.
